About SwimTech Swim School

At  SwimTech Swim School, we believe in creating an inclusive and welcoming place for swimmers of all ages and abilities. Since launching in 1995, SwimTech has grown into one of the most trusted swim schools in Newcastle & North Tyneside, helping thousands of children and adults gain confidence in the water.

About Us

SwimTech was founded by Caroline, who began teaching lessons on her own with a passion for swimming and a determination to make a difference.

With the support of her business partner Tony, and the help of a dedicated team of qualified swimming teachers, SwimTech has gone from strength to strength while still retaining its personal, family-run feel.

For over 30 years, Caroline’s drive to help others learn to swim with confidence has never diminished. She continues to teach lessons herself, staying closely involved with swimmers, parents, and the day-to-day running of the school. One of the things families love most about SwimTech is Caroline’s personal approach — she, along with her team, manages all bookings directly and is always available by phone, text, or email.

Our Journey

1995

SwimTech is founded by Caroline as a solo swimming teacher.

2003

SwimTech begins teaching at Benfield Sports Centre, becoming a trusted swim school in East Newcastle for over two decades.

2010

The school acquires the pool at Wideopen Community Primary School, giving SwimTech exclusive use of its own pool. This was a milestone moment, allowing the school to expand further and create a safe, inclusive environment for every swimmer.

Today

SwimTech teaches from both Benfield Sports Centre and its private swimming pool in Wideopen, offering lessons for pre-schoolers, children, adults, and SEND swimmers.

Caroline and Tony remain passionate about providing a swim school that is not only professional and structured but also friendly, inclusive, and fun. Their vision has always been to ensure SwimTech is a safe, supportive space where swimmers can grow in skill and self-confidence.

What makes SwimTech special is not just our structured Swim England-accredited programmes but also the people behind the lessons. Every member of our team shares the same values of inclusivity, continuity, safety, encouragement, and enjoyment. This is shown through the length of time our teachers have been with SwimTech. Together, we create an environment where swimmers of all ages — from pre-schoolers to adults — feel supported, valued, and motivated.

At SwimTech, our team is more than just staff. We’re a family-run swim school that’s been part of the Newcastle & North Tyneside community for over 30 years, and we look forward to welcoming your family into ours.
